Another new team member—can you believe it?!
As many of you know, our current Director of Operations, Tory Patterson, just went on maternity leave (like, one day ago). We’ve been lucky enough to find a talented project manager and all-around great guy, Jeff Vires, to fill in for her while she’s out!
Anyone working on projects with our team will be seeing Jeff’s name in their inbox, so let’s introduce you to one another!
When the Right Brain Meets the Left
Jeff originally comes from the East Coast and is a massive Tigers fan. Slowly making their way West from Michigan, he and his family came to San Diego just in time for his first year of high school.
He’s always leaned toward creative subjects: he studied Music Composition and Guitar Studies at the Musicians Institute, Graphic Design at the Art Institute, and Business Administration with a Marketing minor at the University of San Diego.
This creative, business-focused background led Jeff to take a step back and put on his thinking cap. In 2011, he launched a startup company that allowed him to combine his formal study skills with his graphic and web design skills. This experience allowed him to explore, build, and cultivate his business experience.
For Jeff, project management is a combination of envisioning projects and seeing them through.
Jeff sometimes extends his creative time management skills to his music—in his free time, he plays as much guitar as possible (did you know he has 15 guitars?!). When not keeping projects on track or exercising the creative part of his brain, he also enjoys hanging out with his 4 dogs, wife, and twin babies. Jeff also believes in reading whenever he can, 5 minutes here, 30 minutes there…it all adds up. One of the books he recently finished that he recommends is Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig.
We love celebrating our team! Here are a few things we already love about Jeff.
Wayward Kind: What’s your favorite way to start the day?
Jeff: With green tea, push-ups, and pull-ups.
Wayward Kind: What’s something on your bucket list that you plan to tackle in 2020?
Jeff: I actually do not have a bucket list…which sounds weird because doesn’t everyone have a bucket list? I’ll get on that! I’d consider visiting Japan a definite start to my bucket list (maybe not for 2020 but at some point in my lifetime).
Wayward Kind: If your life was made into a movie, who would play you? Why?
Jeff: The main character in the movie Rock Star portrayed my early life pretty well, so I feel that Mark Wahlberg would be a great actor to play me when my life was at its most interesting.
