Meet Keishonda Sherman, Wayward Kind’s New Copywriter
Wayward Kind is all about taking a different path and we can atone to the fact that our newest Copywriter Keishonda has done just that.
Keishonda comes from a multitude of different highways and we can’t wait to hear how her journey brought her to Wayward and are delighted she found her way!
Let’s tune in.
Pushed by Passion: Aspiring reporter turned writer
Keishonda took the road less traveled and dabbled in finance and customer service while juggling school before she entered the digital marketing world. She finished her Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Texas at Arlington and initially imagined herself on the TV screen reporting the news. In college, she discovered her talent and love for all things writing and realized working behind the scenes wasn’t the worst thing in the world, in fact, it was both challenging and exciting.
Working in finance and student publication allowed Keishonda to take on various skill sets which proved helpful in combining writing and marketing for small businesses. “I feel working in multiple fields throughout my career allowed me to become a diversified specialist by applying everything I learned and applying it to copywriting. Being a SoCal native it was only right that she come back home and pursue her greatest dreams.”
She calls herself a “people scientist” because she studies all aspects of people. “I love finding out what makes them tick and connecting that to various things in their lives. Social bonds are essential to flourishing in life and Wayward Kind effortlessly enhances human connection by listening and understanding and I am so glad to be a part of that vision.”
Keishonda enjoys anything that challenges her physically and mentally. This can be something as simple as taking a sweat infused yoga class to an intense jeopardy game with the family. You can find her reading books on self-development as she is keen on continual growth. Speaking of growth Keishonda plans on pursuing her Masters and even foresees a Ph.D. in the long run.
Keishonda strides to think out of the box and release her creativity in words. One of the ways she does this is by reciting affirmations and making vision boards with powerful quotes, one of her favorites is Lord Byron’s “A drop of ink may make a million think.”
You know the drill… let’s find out what keeps Keishonda ticking!
Wayward Kind: What’s your favorite way to start your day?
Keishonda: My favorite way to start my day is with silence, reflection and gratitude. I read my bible app and start with movement (usually a big stretch and 3 vinyasa breaths). I typically skip breakfast and head to a fitness class to get my blood flowing!
Wayward Kind: What’s something on your bucket list that you plan to tackle this year?
Keishonda: My bucket list consists of widening my love of different kinds of vegan foods, reaching new fitness goals and stamping out at least one page of my passport.
Wayward Kind: If your life was made into a movie, who would play you? Why?
Keishonda: Tracee Ellis Ross. She is my spirit animal and embodies me in the utmost capacity. She is a ball of joy filled with goofiness, freedom, care, and self-love, and let’s not talk about her juicy hair and elegant sense of fashion.
